Q: Is KFL a touch or tackle league?
The Kingwood Football League now offers two distinct football seasons.  Our 7on7 Passing League begins in May and ends in June.  This league is non-contact and is open for 5 year olds thru Middle School.  Our tackle season begins every year in July and ends in early November. This league is open to children aged 5-12.

July - November       **All-Star season November - December          

Q: How are teams selected?
Teams are drafted by the coaches of the league in an effort to make each team as equal as possible.

Q: Does everyone who attends tryouts make a team?
Yes.  Tryouts are designed for the coaches to evaluate the players prior to the draft.

Q: Do I need to attend all tryout sessions?
No.  You only need to attend one tryout.

Q: What do you wear to tryouts?
Shorts, t-shirt, and cleats are suggested for optimal efficiency.

Q: What do you do at tryouts?
Players will be timed in a short distance run, and evaluated by throwing the football, catching the football, and completing a variety of agility drills.

Q: Are you required to tryout?
NO. Athletes who do not try out will be considered "hat picks"

Q: What is a hat pick?
A hat pick is for those who were unable to attend a tryout session. They will be picked from a hat and placed on a team.

Q: May you request a specific coach or request the same team as your friend?
No. All players are subject to the draft, except for siblings who will be placed on the same team unless a request is made from the parent to place them on separate teams.

Q: When do I find out what team I am on?
Shortly after the draft is complete, you will receive an introductory phone call and/or email from your head coach notifying you about your team selection.

Q: What is included in your registration fee?
Registration Fees include your game day pants and jersey, helmet decals, and cost associated with running the program i.e. refs, cops, etc.

Q: How do you determine what size pants and jersey my child will wear?
Your child will have the opportunity to be fitted for his game day uniform at one of the Tryout days.

Q: What equipment is required to play football?
For the 7on7 football league, you will need to provide a mouthpiece and cleats.

For the tackle football league, you will need to provide a helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, cleats, practice pants and practice jersey.

Q: When does practice start?
Practice may begin the day following the draft.

Q: What does my child wear to practice?
The first two practices your child will wear shorts/t-shirt, cleats, helmet and mouthpiece.  Practices after the second practice, full pads will be worn.

Q: How long are practices?
Practices are limited to no more than 2 hours and must end by 8 pm.

Q: How many practices are expected per week?
You should expect to have 4 events per week.  Before the games begin, this will consist of 4 practices per week.  Once the games begin, it will consist of 3 practices and one game.

Q: Where are practices held?
Coaches will hold practice at KFL

Q: Where are games played?
Home games are played at the KFL Field Complex off North Park Drive in Kingwood.  See the map on the website.  Away games are played at other fields that are in our alliance that year.
